A short drive.
Still a move.

Moving a few streets away? Carrying can take longer than driving. Consider the whole job before estimating the time.

On a local Teleporter move, you pay for the task, not just minutes behind the wheel. Even a short drive needs time for carrying out, loading, unloading and carrying indoors. The minimum is 60 minutes with a van and 120 minutes for helpers without a van.

The essentials, in brief.

  • A short distance between homes does not always mean a short job.
  • Stairs, access and item count affect the time.
  • Helpers without a van are an option but have a different minimum.

01 · The whole task

Look at both homes, not just the map

A few minutes of driving may sit between two lengthy carrying tasks. Belongings still need moving through doors and stairs, into the van and into place at the new home.

Provide floors, lifts and the distance to lawful parking at both addresses. Ordinary local per-minute service has no separate stair or long-carry surcharge; these can instead increase the time required.

02 · Van or helping hands

Could you move without a moving van?

Moving between rooms or floors in the same building can suit helpers without a van. For different addresses, discuss the whole route and task with support if considering this option.

Helpers without a van have a 120-minute minimum. Choosing no van is therefore not always cheapest. Assess the rate, minimum, lifting and practical transport together.

03 · Preparation

Reduce waiting, not the necessary help

Have boxes and furniture ready, arrange keys and agree who carries. Friends helping must also be available at the new address.

If the van makes several trips, time continues between them. This can be practical over a short distance, but every trip still requires loading and unloading.

04 · Estimating the cost

Treat the minutes as an estimate

A time estimate is not a fixed price for an ordinary local move. Actual task time and the minimum rule determine payment at the chosen rate.

Describe the whole move when asking support for advice. 'We are moving 500 metres' explains less than details of the load, floors, access and carrying help.

Ready for moving day?

One final review.

  • Describe the load, not just the distance.
  • Provide access details at both addresses.
  • Compare service and minimum time.
  • Prepare belongings and keys before arrival.
