You can hire Teleporter helpers to load or unload a van you have rented yourself. You supply the vehicle and arrange its driving; the helpers perform the agreed carrying task. A helpers-only booking has a minimum charge of 120 minutes.

The essentials, in brief.

  • Supply your own authorised driver.
  • Check rental equipment and payload.
  • Arrange helpers’ travel if needed.

01 · Keep driving and carrying responsibilities clear

Keep driving and carrying responsibilities clear

Hiring helpers does not mean one of them will drive your rental van. You need your own authorised driver and a rental agreement suitable for your journey. Check the rental vehicle’s load space and permitted payload with the rental company.

A van can reach its weight limit before it looks full. Helpers cannot make an unsuitable vehicle large enough, so measure bulky furniture before collecting the van and ask the rental company about uncertain vehicle specifications.

02 · Arrange equipment before the day

Arrange equipment before the day

Check what straps, attachment points and protective equipment the rental includes. Tell support if you need helpers to bring anything specific. Equipment normally carried in a Teleporter van is not automatically included when no Teleporter vehicle is booked.

Prepare manageable boxes, protect furniture and clear the carrying route. Packing or assembly is a separate task to agree with support, so the assigned people and materials match what you expect.

03 · Specify one address or both

Specify one address or both

For unloading only, have the van ready at the address at the booked time. Otherwise the team may spend paid time waiting for you to arrive. Explain stairs, lifts and the heaviest items rather than describing only the number of boxes.

If the same helpers must work at both ends, arrange their travel with support. Helpers may arrive by bicycle; do not assume they can follow your van or that there is spare passenger space in it.

04 · Make a complete handover plan

Make a complete handover plan

For example, you collect and drive the rental van while two booked helpers load it, travel by the agreed arrangement and unload it. Confirm that entire sequence, not just the first carrying task.

Allow enough time before the rental return deadline. The 120-minute minimum is a billing rule, not a promise that both addresses can be completed within two hours.

Ready for moving day?

One final review.

  • Supply your own authorised driver.
  • Check rental equipment and payload.
  • Arrange helpers’ travel if needed.
  • Allow for the 120-minute minimum.
