When does time count?
Know your moving bill.
See when Teleporter starts and stops paid moving time, what happens at extra stops, and how traffic, customer waiting and vehicle breakdowns are handled.
For ordinary local Teleporter jobs, the driver’s journey to your first address is not part of your paid task. Time runs from the start of the task or paid waiting until the agreed work at the final address is finished. The driver’s onward journey after completion is not charged to your move.
The essentials, in brief.
- Five free waiting minutes apply only at the start.
- Driving between task addresses counts.
- Carrier-caused interruptions should be paused.
01 · Arrival, starting work and finishing
Arrival, starting work and finishing
There are five free waiting minutes at the beginning. This is an initial waiting allowance, not another five free minutes at every stop or a promise of five minutes of free moving work. The recorded start should match the start of the task or the beginning of paid waiting.
If you booked carrying into your home, the task is not finished just because the van has parked outside. The agreed carrying work must also be completed. If you booked transport only and handle the rest yourself, the task ends after the agreed unloading. The applicable minimum charge still matters.
02 · Driving and waiting during the task
Driving and waiting during the task
Driving between addresses, traffic and time waiting for you or your seller count towards the task. If the same van returns for another load, the clock continues during that return trip too. An extra stop does not create another free waiting allowance.
Have contacts, keys and packed belongings ready at every address. A seller who is not home, belongings still being prepared or an unavailable lift can extend the paid time. Planning access is therefore part of controlling the cost, even when the distance between addresses is short.
03 · When the interruption is on the carrier’s side
When the interruption is on the carrier’s side
If the vehicle develops a fault, the driver should stop or pause the timer while the problem is dealt with. The driver’s own private stops, such as a smoking break, should also be paused. Contact support if the recorded time does not reflect what happened.
Support coordinates a replacement vehicle and the billing correction when an operational fault occurs. This guide does not invent a paid break allowance or resolve statutory working-time requirements for a long job. Ask support to clarify the arrangements when planning an unusually lengthy task.
Ready for moving day?
One final review.
- Agree what completion includes.
- Prepare access at all stops.
- Contact support if the timer is incorrect.
- Remember the applicable minimum charge.
Have a good move — and a good start at your new address.
