A quote may be calculated per minute, per hour or as an agreed total. No model is always cheapest. A useful comparison requires the same job, the same assistance and a clear understanding of minimum charges, rounding and possible extras.

The essentials, in brief.

  • Comparable prices require the same job.
  • Ask about minimum charges and rounding.
  • A fixed price requires a clear scope.

01 · Per-minute and hourly pricing

Per-minute and hourly pricing

With per-minute billing, the price depends on recorded time and the selected rate, subject to the stated minimum. Teleporter's local minimum is 60 minutes with a van and 120 minutes for helpers without a van.

With an hourly rate, ask how part of an hour is billed. Some quotes use intervals; others use actual time. Do not assume every hourly rate rounds up to the next full hour. Also check when the company's clock starts and stops.

02 · An example of how rounding matters

An example of how rounding matters

Imagine two purely illustrative quotes with the same van and help: DKK 15 per minute and DKK 900 per hour. At 132 minutes, per-minute billing gives DKK 1,980. If the hourly agreement requires three full hours, it gives DKK 2,700.

If the hourly agreement instead allows exact time billing, the comparison changes. This example illustrates the effect of a chosen condition; it is not evidence of a competitor's price or a general saving.

03 · Fixed pricing and a clear scope

Fixed pricing and a clear scope

A fixed price gives an agreed amount for the described job. It may suit a long or difficult move, but changes to the scope must be clarified. Ask what assumptions the quote relies on.

Teleporter's local jobs use per-minute billing. Intercity transport has a fixed price agreed with support. In any comparison, check VAT, vehicle size, crew numbers, packing, access and parking, plus any bridge or ferry costs.

Ready for moving day?

One final review.

  • Compare prices including VAT.
  • Check the vehicle and number of helpers.
  • Read the start, end and minimum conditions.
  • Clarify extras and changes.
