Protect mirrors and glass against impacts, pressure and movement before transport. Provide dimensions, construction details and weight, and check whether glass components can be removed. A small frame, large glass tabletop and display cabinet may need different packaging and crews.

The essentials, in brief.

  • Protect surfaces, edges and corners.
  • Pack removable glass parts separately.
  • Large or heavy glass components need assessment first.

01 · Check what can be taken apart

Check what can be taken apart

Read the manufacturer's instructions before removing shelves or a tabletop. Empty the display cabinet and describe whether the glass is loose, fixed or structural. Do not force apart glued or unfamiliar joints.

Photograph the item and its fittings. Keep small parts in labelled bags. A wall-mounted mirror must also be safely detached before carrying; if you need help, arrange this separately rather than assuming the driver will do it.

02 · Choose packaging for the specific glass component

Choose packaging for the specific glass component

Use suitable soft protection around the surface and protect exposed edges. A suitable rigid outer package can help prevent contact with other items. Contents must not move freely in an oversized box, and protection must not create point pressure.

Special boxes are available for mirrors and frames. U-Haul's example illustrates this packaging type, but a box for a light framed mirror does not establish suitability for a heavy glass tabletop. Check the packaging's dimensions, intended use and load rating.

03 · Plan the route before lifting glass

Plan the route before lifting glass

Measure the package and passages at both addresses. Describe staircase turns, narrow doors, lifts and the distance to the van. Agree suitable handling and transport position for the item; improvised lifting through a narrow passage can be dangerous.

Label the contents clearly, but do not rely on a label instead of protection. Disclose existing cracks or damage before booking. Very large, heavy or damaged glass may require a specialist and should not be entered as an ordinary box in the order.

04 · Arrange packaging and help with Teleporter

Arrange packaging and help with Teleporter

If you cannot pack the item yourself, send support photos, dimensions and weight information. Explain whether you need packing, dismantling or transport only. The team and materials must suit the job and be agreed in advance.

For a local move, working time is charged at the selected rate; consumable packing materials are charged separately as agreed. We do not promise that every display cabinet can move assembled, or that extra packaging resolves every access problem. Confirm the solution before collection.
