Teleporter or Mover?
Compare the whole job.
Compare Teleporter and Mover for the same job: van, carrying help, time, distance, minimum charges and VAT. Do not compare a courier rate with a full move.
Read as part of a guide (1)
Choosing between Teleporter and Mover starts with what actually needs doing. Is an item travelling from kerb to kerb, or does someone need to carry a sofa down from the third floor? A low starting rate alone does not tell you the final cost. This checklist is written by Teleporter as a service provider.
The essentials, in brief.
- Compare the same van and carrying help.
- Check minimum charges, extras and VAT.
- A price example is not a quote for your job.
01 · Which Mover price are you looking at?
Which Mover price are you looking at?
Mover's public courier pricing page is aimed at businesses. It lists components including a minimum per booking, distance, extra stops and waiting/loading time, with prices excluding VAT. It is therefore not automatically a comparable quote for a private move that includes carrying furniture indoors.
The source was checked on 7 October 2026. Ask Mover to confirm the price and scope for your specific private or business job. We do not present an old figure as a current private quote or assume Mover lacks a service because it is absent from the displayed price table.
02 · How an ordinary local Teleporter job works
How an ordinary local Teleporter job works
With Teleporter, you choose the van and help. You can load yourself, book the driver's help or choose additional helpers. Local jobs use the selected per-minute rate, with a 60-minute minimum for a van with a driver and 120 minutes for helpers without a van.
The clock covers the agreed task until completion at the final address. Traffic and delays on the customer's side can increase the paid time. There is no separate floor surcharge, although carrying on stairs often takes longer. Intercity transport has an agreed fixed price.
03 · Send both providers the same description
Send both providers the same description
For example: one sofa, dimensions and weight, collection from the third floor without a lift, delivery to the ground floor and no carrying help from the customer. Ask both providers for a service that covers all the carrying. Then compare the total including VAT on the same assumptions.
Ask what is included: travel to the job, loading, waiting, distance, extra stops and parking. If one price is an estimate and the other is a fixed agreement, make that distinction clear. Do not compare only a rate per minute with a rate per kilometre.
04 · When is Teleporter worth considering?
When is Teleporter worth considering?
Teleporter may suit a local job where you want to choose how much help you need and pay for the time used, subject to a known minimum. If friends can do the carrying, you can choose a van and driver without carrying help.
This is not a promise that Teleporter is always cheapest or best. For larger moves or special requirements, request specific quotes and check availability. Choose the option whose price and scope match your belongings and your ability to help.

One final review.
- Describe the same goods, addresses and help.
- Compare prices including VAT.
- Read the minimum and possible extra costs.
- Confirm whether the amount is an estimate.
Have a good move — and a good start at your new address.
